Privacy policy.
This policy explains what personal data Hoot & Partners collects through hootlegal.com, why it is collected, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it. It covers this website only.
Who is responsible

What is collected, and when
Site measurement — only if you accept
When you first arrive you are asked whether the firm may measure your use of the site. Nothing is recorded until you answer. If you decline, no measurement request is made at all and none of the following is collected.
If you accept, the firm records:

The city lookup is performed by a third-party service (ip-api.com), which receives the IP address for that purpose. No other third party receives this data, and it is never sold or used for advertising.
Server logs. Separately from the above, the web server records the IP address of every request as a matter of ordinary operation and security, as any web server does. This happens before any of the firm's own code runs and is not affected by your measurement choice.
When you submit a brief
The brief form collects the name, contact details and matter description you choose to provide. This is used to respond to your enquiry and, if the firm is engaged, to act on the matter. It is sent to the firm by email and is not used for marketing.
When you use the site search
Search queries are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate results. Do not enter confidential information or details of a live matter into the search field. If you have accepted measurement, your queries are also recorded as described above.
Legal basis
- Measurement — your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
- Briefs and enquiries — steps taken at your request before entering a contract, and the firm's legitimate interest in responding.
- Server logs — legitimate interest in operating and securing the site.
How long it is kept
- Measurement data — retained while it remains useful and deleted when it does not.
- Briefs and correspondence — retained in line with the firm's professional and regulatory obligations.
- Server logs — retained for a short period by the hosting provider.
Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. Write to info@hootlegal.com and the firm will respond.
Withdrawing measurement consent takes effect immediately and requires no correspondence:
Transfers
The site is hosted outside the UAE, and the city-lookup and AI search providers process data outside the UAE. Where data is transferred, the firm relies on the safeguards those providers offer.
Children
This site is directed at businesses and professional advisers. It is not intended for children, and the firm does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
