What is stored
This site does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. It stores two things, and only the second depends on your choice.
| What | Purpose | Set when |
|---|---|---|
| Your measurement choice | Remembers whether you accepted or declined, so you are not asked again | Always — this is what records your decision, including a decision to decline |
| A visitor identifier | Recognises return visits so repeat reading is counted as one reader | Only if you accept |
Both are stored in your browser's local storage rather than as traditional cookies. The effect is the same, and clearing your browser data removes them.
If you decline
No measurement request is made at all. Your IP address is not recorded by the firm, no identifier is stored, and no record is made of the pages you open or the searches you run. The site works exactly as it otherwise would.
Your web server request is still logged by the hosting provider as a matter of ordinary operation, as explained in the privacy policy. That is not affected by this choice.
If you accept
The firm records your IP address and the country and city it resolves to, the pages you open and how long you spend on them, the terms you type into the site search, and the site you arrived from. The city lookup is performed by ip-api.com, which receives the IP address for that purpose only.
Changing your mind
Use the control at the top of this page. It takes effect immediately. Declining after having accepted also clears the identifier already stored in your browser.
